EAST GREENSBORO – Sophomore Ana Olaya, the 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, continued to secure accolades during her short but successful career when she was named first-team All-MEAC Tuesday.
Two other Aggie bowlers earned All-MEAC recognition as voted on by MEAC head coaches and sports information directors. Sophomore Cameron Strombeck earned second-team all-conference while junior Mia Pople was a third-team selection.
Olaya earned her second career first-team honor from the conference. Olaya has also earned two bowler of the week accolades this season. She leads the team in total pinfall at 10,090 with a 190.38 average on the season. She bowled her high game of 242 against Monmouth during the first MEAC meet of the season. She took first place in the individual standings in both MEAC meets this season and has she bowled 19 200-plus games.
Strombeck has the second highest total pinfall on the team with 8,554 and a 190.09 season average. Her high game on the season was a 241 that she bowled during the opening tournament of the year against Alabama A&M during the Allstate Sugar Bowl hosted by Tulane. Strombeck has 19 200-plus games on the season.
Pope has a total pinfall on the season of 5,734 with a 184.75 average. Pope has come alive during the second half of the season with 12 200-plus games this season. Pope's highest game of the season is a 236 that she recorded against Stephen F. Austin during the last tournament at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.
Next up for the Aggies is the MEAC tournament in Chesapeake, Va. March 22-24.
