EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T cross country runner Regan Kimtai (SO, Eldoret, Kenya) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men’s cross country runner of the week, announced by the conference Wednesday.
Kimtai was the only non-Michigan Wolverine runner to finish in the top-8 by finishing fourth at the Adidas Challenge last Friday in Cary, N.C.
Kimtai finished with a 6k personal-best 17:54.20. He bested his other 6k time this season by almost a minute and averaged 4:48.1 per mile during the meet. When that time is averaged out to an 8k, his estimated time would be 24:17, which would be the fastest time in the conference this season.
Thus far Kimati has finished in the top-15 in both events as he finished 15that the Elon Opener to begin the season. The Aggies continue the season with the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational in Hagan Stone Park Saturday. The women’s 5k race starts at 1 p.m. and the men’s 8k race starts at 1:45 p.m.
