EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T senior cross country runner G’Jasmyne Butler (5-foot-2, Raleigh, N.C.) was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) women’s cross country runner of the week, announced by the conference Wednesday.
Butler won the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational for the second consecutive season with a time of 19:23.5 and for the third time in her career. She averaged 6:14.5 per mile. Butler won by almost 22 seconds and 32 seconds ahead of the next Division I runner. The time is the sixth-fastest 5k time in the conference.
The men’s and women’s teams return to action on Saturday when they compete in the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge at the Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., at 9:30 a.m. The women are the defending champions while the men have won four out of the last five.
