GREENSBORO (August 8, 2017) – The men’s and women’s cross country team has released their 2017 schedule with five meets leading up to the 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships.

The Aggies men are coming off a season in which they finished third at the MEAC championships behind Norfolk State and champion Maryland Eastern Shore. Darren White (graduated) and returning junior Hakeem Mustafaa were all-conference performers. The women placed sixth with returning sophomore G’Jasmyne Butler earning all-conference accolades.

Both teams open the season at the 5th Annual Elon Opener on Sept. 2. It will be the ninth straight season the Aggies have raced at Elon University. Two weeks later the men and women compete in the Adidas Cross Country Classic hosted by North Carolina State University at the Adidas Cross Country classic at the Wake Med Soccer Park. Last season the men finished 10th and the women placed 11th.

After another two-week layoff, the Aggies will get a chance to run in Greensboro as the two teams compete in the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational at Hagan Stone Park on Sept. 30. It will mark the first time the Aggies have competed at Hagan Stone Park since the 2012 season when they ran in the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic. A week later the Aggies return to Wake Med Soccer Park for the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge. The Aggie men are the three-time defending champions. N.C. A&T's final regular season meet is at High Point University's VertCross Invitational on Oct. 14.

The MEAC championships are on Oct. 28 at a location to be determined. The women will have a tough task in trying to dethrone five-time reigning champion Florida A&M, while the men will be busy trying to take down three-time reigning champion Maryland Eastern Shore.
