Box Score
And the Aggies had an above average chance of defeating Campbell. But in
both cases the Aggies came up short as
Campbell
defeated the Aggies 3-2 (23-30, 30-24, 19-30, 17-15). The Aggies fell to
16-12 overall, while Campbell improved to 13-17. Despite the
disappointing loss, all three seniors played well. Lauren Walker had a
career night from her librero position as she finished with a
career-high 37 digs. But she posted 18 digs at High Point on Tuesday and had 14 digs at the end of the first two games on Thursday to give herself a realistic chance to reach the milestone. But the she did not record a dig in the third game, and she recorded her 20th dig of the game just before match point in Game 5. It would have been nice to win, it would be nice to earn my 1,000th dig at home, but there is still time and Im happy about that, said Mitchell. My main focus is on trying to win a championship. The Aggies were playing championship quality volleyball in the first game as their defense kept the Campbell hitters off balance. In games two and three the Aggies offense faltered. They hit a combined -.013 in those two games combined to fall down 2-1. In the fourth game, the Aggies attack came alive as Arlene Mitchell slammed down six kills, and the Aggies were aided by eight Campbell services errors in the game. Two Darlene Mitchell kills and a Campbell attack error gave the Aggies an 11-8 lead in the final game. But two straight attack errors and a kill by the Camels Femi Alabi tied the game at 11. Brittany Rusin gave the Camels a 12-11 lead on a kill that bounced in the front of the outstretched arms of Brenden Chatman. The Aggies never regained the lead but fought off match-point three times before Rachel Templin ended the match with a kill. The Aggies travel to Gardner-Webb on Monday to face the Bulldogs before traveling to Hampton, Va., to compete in the MEAC Tournament Nov. 17-19.
