Box Score But in the end, more of the Fighting Camels’ shots landed as they came way from Corbett Sports Center with a 3-1 win (24-30, 30-23, 30-28, 30-26) over the Aggies Tuesday night. The two teams combined for 337 attacks in the match with Aundia Gray, Avignon Williams and Brenden Chatman all recording double-figure kills with 16, 15 and 10 respectively. Gray’s 42 attacks were a career high. Campbell’s Emily Werner led the Camels with 23 kills, 17 digs and four blocks. Caitlin Bendy added 10 kills, four blocks and 17 digs. “I thought we played well,’’ said N.C. A&T head coach Lyndsay Schmiedel. “We made a lot of good hits tonight. They played great defense tonight and prevented us from scoring.” The Camels recorded 73 digs and 16 blocks led by Melissa Harvey with 25 digs. The Aggies defense wasn’t too shabby either. They recorded 63 digs and 22 blocks led by Kaycee Anderson with a career-high 18 digs and Nyra Taborn with a career-high eight blocks (seven block assists, one solo). Gray added five block assists. The Aggies took advantage of Campbell mistakes early. As six attack errors by the Camels helped the Aggies take an 18-7 lead in the first game. The Camels moved within four at 26-22 in the first game, but a Gray kill and the Camels 11th attack error of the game helped the Aggies take the first game. The Camels dominated the second game thanks to many Aggie attack errors. After the second game, the two teams put on a display of several rallies throughout the third and fourth games. The Camels took a 26-19 lead in the third game. Williams and Anderson recorded kills and the Camels committed an attack error and service error to help the Aggies go on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to three. An attack error by Gray helped the Camels end the run, but errors from the Camels move to within one at 27-26. The Aggies stayed within as the two teams traded points. But with the Camels leading 29-28, Werner slammed down a kill in the middle of the Aggies defense to give the Camels the win. The Aggies fell behind early in the fourth game and were never able to completely recover. The Aggies are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Durham, N.C., to face N.C. Central at 7 p.m.
