AGGIES LOSE IN GWU TOURNEY

North Carolina A&T could not get its self on track offensively in the Gardner-Webb Volleyball Tournament on Friday as Davidson defeated the Aggies 3-0 (30-24, 17, 21).

Krystal Cooper led the Aggies with seven kills and 10 digs, while sophomore Stacey Malone recorded a career-high 18 digs. Junior Aundia Gray contributed with six kills and four blocks. The Aggies continue play in the Gardner-Webb Tournament on Saturday when they face Gardner-Webb and Air Force.

The Aggies are 0-8 on the season, while the Wildcats improved to 4-2. The Aggies had their best chance of snatching a game in the first game. An attack error by Davidson’s Courtney Cron helped the Aggies tie the game at 16. The Wildcats recovered by scoring the next three points. But two consecutive kills from Gray pulled the Aggies back to within one at 19-18.

The Wildcats took over from there. Three straight kills by Sarabeth Peele helped the Wildcats take a 23-18 lead. The Aggies never got any closer after that point. Davidson was led by Katie Periucci who had eight kills and 16 digs. Haley Lawson added 33 assists and six kills.
