Box Score vs. IUPUI The Aggies completed the IUPUI tourney with a lost to IUPUI 3-0 (30-26, 15, 11) and to Tennessee Martin 3-0 (30-16, 31-29, 15) on Sunday. The losses dropped the Aggies to 0-7 on the season. The Aggies return to action on Friday when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to play in the Gardner-Webb Tournament. They play Davidson on Friday and Gardner-Webb and Air Force on Saturday. Aggies senior outside hitter Krystal Cooper earned all-tournament honors at the IUPUI event. She averaged 3.44 kills, 3.00 digs and had a .205 hitting percentage throughout the tournament. She and her Aggie teammates appeared in position to win their first game of the season on Sunday when they faced off against Tennessee Martin. After decidedly losing the first game, the Aggies jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the second game. The Aggies led throughout the game, and took what looked like a comfortable 25-19 lead after a Stacey Malone service ace. But UTM scored seven of the next eight points and tied the game at 26 on a Taylor Noland kill. Despite the rally, the Aggies wouldn’t give up the lead. When they finally did, it led to game-point. Dimphy Sasse slammed down a kill for UTM to give the Skyhaws the lead at 30-29. Sasse’s would add another kill to give the Skyhaws the 31-29 win and a 2-0 lead in the match. The Aggies saw another lead evaporate against in the first game of the IUPUI match. Leading 17-9, the Aggies saw the Jaguars rally to tie the game on a Danielle Goodnight kill. After a Cooper kill pulled the Aggies to within one at 24-23, the Jaguars went on 5-1 run thanks to three Aggie errors to take a commanding 29-24 lead. Cooper had 11 kills and five digs in the match. |
