AGGIE VOLLEYBALL RELEASES SCHEDULE

Volleyball Schedule
GREENSBORO, July 17, 2007 --  The Lyndsay Schmiedel era will officially start on August 24 in the Triad Challenge in High Point. Schmiedel took over the head coaching duties in April after being an assistant coach the previous two seasons.

The Aggies will open the season against High Point University at 2:30 p.m. The Triad Challenge is just one of five tournaments the Aggies will play in this season. In addition to the Challenge, the Aggies will visit Indianapolis for the IUPUI Volleyball Tournament from September 1-2.

They also will participate in the 2007 Runnin’ Bulldog Classic hosted by Gardner-Webb September 7-8. A week later they travel to Cullowhee, N.C., to play in Western Carolina’s Tournament. The Aggies final tournament of the season will be hosted by arch-rival N.C. Central September 28-29.

The Aggies don’t play at home until Tuesday, Sept. 18 when they host UNC-Greensboro at 6 p.m. Their first conference game is three days later when they travel to Orangeburg, S.C., to face S.C. State. The Aggies finish with four out of their last five games at home.

Schmiedel returns three-year starter Brenden Chatman at the setter’s position. She also has two six-foot middle hitters returning in Aundia Gray and Avignon Williams. The Aggies did lose all-time kills leader Arlene Mitchell and her twin sister Darlene to graduation leaving a void on the outside. Senior Krystal Cooper and junior Tiffany Mellette will likely play a role in filling those slots.

Meanwhile, an even bigger challenge is finding someone to replace defensive standout Lauren Walker. Walker led the Aggies in digs for three straight seasons.
