For the North Carolina A&T volleyball team it’s early. The Aggies top setter is still out and players who didn’t play much last season are still adjusting.

The Aggies lost twice on Saturday in the UNCG/High Point Triad Challenge. The Aggies lost to Radford 3-0 (20, 22, 20) on Saturday morning. Saturday night, the Aggies fell to 0-4 with a 3-0 loss (10, 21, 17) to UNC-Greensboro. On Friday, the Aggies played at High Point University, on Saturday they switched venues to UNCG as both universities are sharing the tournament.

Senior attacker Krystal Cooper was named to the All-Tournament team for the UNCG site. She had a combined 13 kills and 20 digs on the day. Aundia Gray had seven kills against Radford and libero Stacey Malone had 24 digs over the two matches. Kaycee Anderson had 24 assists against the Highlanders and 14 assists against the Spartans.

“We just have to keep improving,’’ said head volleyball coach Lyndsay Schmiedel. “ I tell them ‘as long as we’re getting better, I’m ok with them. We’re going to keep working to get better.”

The Aggies will have a little time to work on some things in practice before their next match. The Aggies don’t return to action until Sept. 1 when they travel to Indianapolis to play in the IUPUI Tournament.
