BOX SCORE vs. Western Michigan BOX SCORE vs. Indiana BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – North Carolina A&T closed out the 2009 College Bookstore Volleyball Invitational with losses to Western Michigan and Indiana. Western Michigan, fresh off of a win over Indiana, defeated an inspired Aggies team 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-12). Later in the day, Indiana kept the Aggies winless this season with a 3-0 victory (25-10, 25-17, 25-18). Against the Broncos, Janae Mitchell compiled a .286 hitting percentage with eight kills and two attack errors. Mitchell also added nine digs, and Mellette contributed with 11 digs. The Aggies took a 16-15 lead against the Broncos in the first set thanks to a Michelle Moore attack error. A 4-0 run capped off by a Jillian Mitchell service ace gave the Broncos a three-point advantage. Junior Bridgett McCaskill’s kill pulled the Aggies to within two, but the Broncos scored six of the final seven points in the set. Mitchell also led the Aggies against the Hoosiers. She had seven kills and junior setter Amber Inman had 21 assists. The Aggies most competitive match against the Hoosiers was the second set. A McCaskill service ace pulled the Aggies to within one at 15-14. The Hoosiers were able to score the next two points, but the Aggies fought back. Two consecutive attack cut the Hoosiers lead to 17-16. But a 6-1 run solidified the Hoosiers win in the set. Mellette was named to the all-tournament team. She was also named to the all-tournament team in William & Mary's Invitational. The Aggies return to action Tuesday night at 7 when they go on the road to play UNC Wilmington.
