GREENSBORO, N.C., - November 19, 2004 - Outside hitter Arlene Mitchell was selected to Second-Team All-MEAC for the second straight season. Mitchell, a 5-foot-9 sophomore out of Henderson, N.C., was the leading offensive attacker for the Lady Aggies this season, as she led the Lady Aggies in kills in 26 of 30 matches. Mitchell recorded 20 or more kills eight times and tied her career high of 26 twice. She finished the season with a total of 449 kills for an average of 4.43 per game, which ranked third in the MEAC. Mitchell ranked third on the team with 230 digs (2.21 per game) and 59 blocks (0.57 per game). Mitchell used an improved jump serve to power 63 aces, which ranked her 12th nationally for the second consecutive season. "I'm proud of Arlene for her accomplishments this season," said head coach Millicent Sylvan. "She deserves to be a first-team selection because she is one of the most versatile players in the conference. It's not often that one player can do every facet of the game well, and she does it all for us. She dedicated herself to be a complete player this season and her effort showed in this selection."
