BRENDEN AT A GLANCE: Perhaps the biggest marquee player returning to the North Carolina A&T volleyball team in 2007…On most nights she is also the most versatile player on the court…Head coach Lyndsay Schmiedel is looking for her to be the glue that keeps the team together this season…She is 613 assists shy of breaking Michelle Spottswood’s school record for career assists…Will likely be one of only two  players to lead in Aggies history to lead the team in assists all four years…Is a two-time second-team All-MEAC performer…Consistently ranks in the top three on the team in assists, kills, digs and service aces…A very deceptive attacker who can strike quickly as well as set things up for her teammates…To illustrate her versatility, she has a career .195 hitting percentage, she has 148 career service aces and averaged 1.86 digs and 9.22 assists per game during her career…She is a four-year starter who has played in 356 games with 99 starts…Has played in more games and started more matches than any other Aggie on the roster…Has a career .248 hitting percentage in conference play…She holds school records for assists in match with 58 and assists in a season with 1,258 in 2005…Also has 21 career double-doubles.

2006: Had another exceptional season that saw her be named a second-team All-MEAC setter…Continued to mix strong play at the net with ability to set up the Aggies top hitters for points…Played in 31 matches and 112 games with 112 starts…Ranked in the top three on the team in four different statistical categories…Ranked first in assists (10.07), second in services aces (0.40), third in kills (1.88), third in hitting percentage (.237) and third in digs (1.81)…Ranked third in the conference in assists, tenth in service aces and 14th in hitting percentage…Recorded career highs in hitting percentage, total kills and kills per game at season’s end…Recorded 11 double-doubles for the season…Had six games in which she recorded double figure kills…Had five games in which she recorded double figure digs and reached 40 or more assists 13 times…Set a school record for assists in a match on Sept. 12 with 58 in a 3-2 win over N.C. Central in Moore Gymnasium…It was one of two matches in which she recorded 50 or more assists…Had 54 assists, 10 digs and six kills in a 3-1 MEAC Tournament win over Bethune-Cookman at Corbett Sports Center on Nov. 17…In a nationally-televised ESPNU game against S.C. State on Nov. 2, Chatman nearly recorded a triple-double with 49 assists, 13 digs and eight kills in a 3-1 win at Corbett Sports Center…Recorded 13 kills, 40 assists and seven digs in a tough 3-2 loss to UNCG on Oct. 31 at Corbett Sports Center…Ten days later, she recorded 42 assists and a season-best 14 digs and had seven kills in a 3-2 loss to Campbell from Corbett Sports Center…Had one of the best showings in the country when she slammed down a career-high 11 service aces against Winston-Salem State in a 3-0 win on Aug. 29.

2005: Played in 140 games in 40 matches…Earned second-team All-MEAC honors…Finished fourth in the MEAC with an average of 8.99 assists per game…Collected 208 kills at a .149 hitting percentage, the fourth best marks on the team…Finished fourth on the team with 67 service aces…Also tallied 301 digs and 61 blocks (three solo)…Turned in a double-double of 24 assists and 16 digs in a 3-0 loss to East Carolina on Sept. 1…Had 53 assists and 13 digs in a 3-2 loss against UNC Wilmington on Sept. 2…Set a season high 54 assists in a 5-game victory over UNC Asheville on Sept. 3…Had five kills on nine attacks (.556 hitting pct.), 10 digs and a 3-game match best of 41 assists in a 3-0 victory vs. Radford on Sept. 10…Hit .600 (13 kills, one error, 20 attacks) and added 27 assists with nine digs in a 3-1 victory over High Point on Sept. 13…Had 26 assists, nine digs, three kills and three aces in a 3-0 loss vs. East Tennessee St on Sept. 30… Posted 33 assists, 12 digs and eight kills in a 3-1 loss to Gardner-Webb on Oct. 4… Had the team’s best single game hitting percentage with 13 kills on just 17 attacks (.706) plus completed a triple-double with 40 assists and 15 digs in a 3-2 victory over Hampton on Oct. 14...Set a four-game match best 48 assists and added 17 digs in a 3-1 win against Delaware State on Oct. 15…Had eight kills, 11 digs, four service aces in a 3-0 victory over UMES on Oct. 15…Recorded 40 set assists in a 3-0 victory against Gardner-Webb on Nov. 5… Had 17 assists, eight kills and eight digs in the 2005 MEAC Championship Game…Earned 2006 MEAC All-Tournament Honors along with teammate Arlene Mitchell.

2004: Ranked eighth in the conference in assists with 8.62 per game… Recorded 30 or more assists nine times…Had 50 or more assists twice last season, both in five-game contests…Recorded a career high 56 assists in a tough 3-2 win over Morgan State on Oct. 15…Recorded 40 more assists on the same day in the MEAC Round-Up as the Aggies defeated Coppin State 3-0…In four games, had 45 assists in a 3-1 loss to Campbell on Sept. 18…Had 42 more assists against Campbell on Nov. 9 in a 3-1 loss.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three varsity letters in both basketball and volleyball at North High…An all conference candidate in both sports…Led both teams to state playoffs in both junior and senior seasons...Named First Team All State in volleyball after averaging 12 kills, eight assists, and eight digs per game…Named Second Team All-State and First-Team All District in basketball after her senior season…A three-year Academic All-Conference Selection.
