YOUTHFUL AGGIES TO PLAY TOUGH SCHEDULE

Aggies will have 10 new players this season

2006-2007 Women's Basketball Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C., August 18, 2006 – Although North Carolina A&T women’s basketball head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs is entering her second season, she is starting over. The Aggies will feature 10 new players this season with no starters returning from the 2005-2006 season.

Among the newcomers are six freshmen. Sophomores Emilee Christopher and Ahmad Williams, who did start 13 games, are the only two returning players from the 2005-06 season.

Despite the youth, the Aggies will play challenging competition during the 2006-2007 season. Bibbs will test her new assembled talent for the first time on Nov. 10 when the Aggies host Stetson of the Atlantic Sun Conference at 7 p.m.

The other non-conference opponents headed to Corbett Sports Center include Wofford (Nov. 20), UNC Asheville (Dec. 16), Navy (Dec. 18) and Elon (Dec. 20). N.C. A&T may also get a chance to renew its rivalry in women’s basketball with UNC Greensboro when the Aggies play in the UNC Greensboro Thanksgiving Tournament Nov. 24-25.

The Aggies first conference game is Dec. 2 against S.C. State in Orangeburg, S.C. Maryland-Eastern Shore will travel to Greensboro for the Aggies first home conference game on Jan. 6.

N.C. A&T’s other non-conference opponents include national powers Georgia, South Carolina, Baylor and Texas Christian.

“We are young, but I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing,’’ said Bibbs. “It’s all about building a program and not just a team. We’re going to have an opportunity to grow with these young women. We have some transfers who will help the younger players along.”
