COOK CONTINUES TO SIZZLE

Cook earns her third honor of the season

GREENSBORO, January 8, 2007 Ta’Wuana “Tweet” Cook accomplished a feat Monday that is not normally bestowed upon freshman. The 5-foot-8 freshman out of Fayetteville, N.C., was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 1-Jan.7.

Cook, who already earned two Rookie of the Week Honors to her credit, scored 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting in a 74-59 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday. Cook also had five rebounds, five assists and just two turnovers in the game.

“I’m so proud of her,’’ said head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs. “I think it’s great that a young lady from North Carolina can show the kind of talent that is available in the state. She improves every time she steps on the floor.”

Going into Monday’s game against Howard, Cook is fourth in the league in scoring (14.0 ppg), second in assists and she is tied for sixth in 3-pointers made per game (1.62).  A Lady Aggies has won a weekly honor four out of the six weeks the two honors have been available. In the last three weeks, an Aggie has won the Player of the Week honor.  Amber Bland won it the previous two weeks.
