November 13, 1984: Patricia Cage Bibbs made her collegiate
coaching debut at
Grambling State University against Kansas State in Topeka, Kan. The
Tigers lost the

game 92-70.
November 17, 1984: Bibbs earned her first career win as a collegiate
head coach,
defeating Texas Southern 99-67 at Texas Southern.
January 17, 1987:
After getting her first career win against Texas Southern, three
years later she earned her 100th career win against Texas Southern on
her home court
in Grambling.
February 23, 1987: Bibbs’ Grambling team defeated Jackson State
102-75 to clinch
the SWAC regular-season title. It would be the first of Bibbs’ seven
regular-season title
in 13 seasons at Grambling.
March 5, 1988: The Grambling Tigers defeated Mississippi Valley
State 73-64 to
lead Bibbs to the first of her six SWAC Tournament championships. At the
time, there
was no automatic NCAA Tournament bid for the SWAC.
March 5, 1994: Grambling defeated Alcorn State and legendary
coach Shirley Walker
112-97 in the SWAC Tournament championship. It was her fourth SWAC
Tournament
championship, but this championship came with a bonus.
March 13, 1994: By virtue of the NCAA women’s basketball
tournament expanding
from 48 teams to 64 teams, the SWAC Tournament champion earned an
automatic bid
in 1994, thus putting Bibbs and Grambling in their first NCAA Tournament
game.
March 17, 1994: Grambling gave No. 2 seed Vanderbilt a tough time
before losing to
the Commodores 95-85 in Bibbs’ first coached NCAA game.
Nov. 27, 1995: Grambling defeated Baptist Christian 121-25 at
Grambling. It was
Bibbs’ 200th career victory and still stands as the most lopsided win of
her career.
Feb. 27, 1997: Bibbs’ Grambling team defeated Jackson State 97-66
to complete
Bibbs’ first and only undefeated conference season as the Tigers
finished the SWAC
15-0.
March 8, 1997: Bibbs won the last of her six SWAC tournaments in
a 66-55 win over
Alcorn State. Six days later she would coach her final game at Grambling
in a NCAA
Tournament loss to Tennessee.
Nov. 18, 1997: Bibbs coached her first game as the head women’s
basketball coach
at Hampton University. The Pirates lost to East Carolina 59-58 in
Greenville, N.C. A
week later, Bibbs earned her first win as the Pirates head coach with a
76-74 win over
Richmond.
March 11, 2000: Bibbs won her 300th career game with a 66-64 win
over Norfolk
State in the MEAC Tournament championship game. It was the first of
Bibbs’ three
MEAC Tournament championship wins.
March 13, 2004: Bibbs led the Pirates to their third MEAC
Tournament championship
with a 65-50 win over Delaware State. Eight days later she would coach
her final game
at Hampton University in a NCAA Tournament loss to Penn State.
March 30, 2005: After taking a year off from coaching, Bibbs was
announced as the
seventh head coach in the history of the North Carolina A&T women’s
program during a
press conference at N.C. A&T’s Bryan Fitness and Wellness Center.
Nov. 18, 2005: Bibbs made her Aggies coaching debut at Elon
University. She lost to
the Phoenix 75-70.
Jan. 9, 2006: After enduring the longest losing streak of her
career – 11 games –
Bibbs won her first game as the head coach of the Aggies with a
thrilling 50-49 win over
Delaware State in Dover, Del.
November 23, 2007: Four different players scored 13 points and
Ta’Wuana Cook led the way with 16 points as the Aggies blew out UNC
Asheville 88-62 in the UNC Greensboro Thanksgiving Tournament at Fleming
Gymnasium to record Bibbs’ 400th career win.
