AGGIES FALL TO HOKIES

BLACKSBURG, Va., December 5, 2007 --
Virginia Tech left the North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team something else to think about during exams. The Hokies ended the Aggies five-game winning streak with a convincing 85-56 win at Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday night.

“We definitely have to go back to the drawing board,’’ said Bibbs. “There were some things my coaches and I saw that we didn’t like defensively and offensively. Virginia Tech played well, but we dind’t play our best. We will be fine, the ladies now have seen it for themselves. We have a lot of work to do before we’re where we want to be.”

The most shocking thing about the night was not the score. The Hokies held 2006-2007 MEAC scoring champ Amber Bland scoreless. Ta’Wuana Cook led the Aggies with 13 points. Brittanie Taylor-James had 12 points off the Aggies bench. Brittany Cook and Andrea Barbour led the way for the Hokies with 21 points apiece. Utahya Drye chipped in 10.

North Carolina A&T’s intense defensive style that kept the Aggies n the game early. The score was tied at 18 after a  Taylor-James put-back with 9:18 remaining in the first half. However, the Hokies hit four consecutive shots to begin a 23-5 run over the next eight minutes and take what would prove to be an insurmountable lead.

"I think we got after them early, but did maintain our intensity throughout the night,’’ said Bibbs. “You can’t keep compete if you let up defensively."
