N.C. A&T vs. WSSU postgame quotes

Coach Bibbs on her team's performance
"That is the most dangerous team that you can play, and if you become complacent then it’s going to be very tough. You have to be humble when you are dealing with a team like this. Of course, yes, we played a lot of people. We had a lot of turnovers, but that is about the average.  We can not keep playing like this. We played against a team tonight that is very, very young, but that team hustled. They really did. I really was not satisfied with the way we played. We won the game but I was not satisfied with the way we played. We play in a tough conference, so we can’t afford to let up.”

Coach Bibbs on the Aggies defense
"I really don’t think they played great defense. It was 34 turnovers and that is really good for some people. I just saw as a coach some things that we did not do. I was not satisfied with the defense. I'm sorry, but I really wasn’t -- even with 34 turnovers."

Coach Bibbs on settling for jump shots
"They played us in a 2-3 zone all night and it was wide open. You could have driven a truck through it. But we wanted to settle for jump shots. But that goes back to the mental part of the game, understanding what the defense is giving you.  When we penetrated tonight we got to the line. We have to be a smarter basketball team.”

Coach Bibbs on Brittanie Taylor-James starting versus her coming off the bench after she replaced Jalessa Sams (missed Saturday's game) in the starting lineup
"I really like Brittanie coming off the bench, but it really doesn’t matter because she is such an outstanding offensive player and when you can bring a kid like Brittanie off the bench that says a lot. That is really scary for the opposing coach too. If you have five people doing a great job and then you bring someone in like Brittanie who could be a starter, that's a good thing to have so I’m glad she’s on my team."

Coach Bibbs on taking over sole possession of first-place in the conference
"I try to make sure they stay focused on wanting to be champions. I know what it feels like. I really want them to know what it feels like. I’m trying to build them up to what we need to do, but it’s about focusing on each game. We cant go any further then Monday night’s game. We have to be ready to play each night. We have to do it in practice. I think if we have good practices and we get it done I can just sit down and be real comfortable and that’s how I like to coach. But you know it just doesn’t work that way."

Ta'Wuana Cook on her eight-steal performance
"My Coaches are always talking about defensive player of the week. (Lamona Smalley) got hers last week so I am trying to get mine this week. I’m trying to be defensive minded. I've  just been working on defense because I am not really known for defense."

Brittanie Taylor-James on making a start on Saturday
"
I feel like every game you have to come ready to play no matter if your name is called off the bench or if you’re given the starting role. It is important to have high expectations for yourself and high confidence no matter if you’re starting or not. Like coach always says, it’s not about who starts the game. It’s about who finishes the game."
