GREENSBORO, N.C., January 16, 2006 – Shareka Glover added to a night that included a floor dedication, a nationally televised game for the men and wins by both Aggie basketball programs.

Glover had 14 points and eight assists as the Aggies defeated Bethune-Cookman 66-49 at Corbett Sports Center Monday. Her first assists of the night put her past Samara Dobbins as the school’s all-time assist leader since the Aggies statistics were recognized by the NCAA in 1982.

The pass went to Kira Tillman on a beautiful passes Glover threaded through Wildcat defenders to get to Tillman for a layup. Glover is the only four-year senior on the Aggies team this year. Despite all of her accomplishments, Glover has yet to play on a team with a MEAC Tournament win.

“I’m really blessed to be her coach,” said Aggie women’s basketball coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs. “She’s going out there doing it for us each and every game. She has meant so much to this program. I really want something special for her this year. All the individual accomplishments are nice, but we’re going to try our best to make sure she comes away with something special this year.”

Bianca Johnson earned her first double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Aggies (3-11, 3-2 MEAC), who are currently riding a three-game winning streak. Kira Tillman chipped in with 13 points while LaKeisha Williams added 12 points for the Aggies, who put four players in double figures for the second straight game.

The Aggies can help put themselves in a better position to accomplish something special for Glover and the team with a win over conference favorite Coppin State Saturday afternoon in Corbett. The Eagles are 5-0 in the MEAC and have won their five conference games by an average of 15.8 points. The game starts at 2.

“I’m proud of the way the young ladies are playing,” said Bibbs, who ran her personal record to 11-2 against B-CC. “We can’t get too excited, because it’s long season. We have a tough opponent coming in on Saturday. But we’ll be ready for them. Coming home is what this team really needed.”

Tillman scored nine points and Williams added seven to stake the Aggies to a 28-21 lead at the half. Katie Clark hit a pair of free throws to bring B-CC within five, 30-25, with 18:04 left.

Glover responded with the first of her four second half 3-pointers, which keyed a 24-15 run over the next ten minutes. Her final 3-pointer gave the Aggies a 57-39 lead, and B-CC drew no closer than 16 the rest of the way.

The Aggies shot 43.9 percent from the field, more than 10 percent better than their season average. They have shot a combined 44.3 percent in their last two games. N.C.  A&T pounded the glass to a 43-29 margin and for the first time this season, recorded more assists than turnovers (17-15).
