GLOVER NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-MEAC

RICHMOND, Va., March 8, 2005 – Junior guard Shareka Glover recovered from a season-ending injury that cost her more than half the 2003-2004 season, to emerge as a first-team All-MEAC performer for the 2004-2005 season.

One of the best floor generals in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the 5-foot-5 point guard out of Landover, Md., often played through injuries this season. Yet she still managed to lead the Lady Aggies in scoring, assists and free throw shooting.

“I think it was a great accomplishment for Shareka, especially considering she was the player from either the men’s or women’s teams to make an all-conference team. I thought there maybe should have been more, but I’m very proud of Shareka,’’ N.C. A&T head women’s basketball Saudia Roundtree said.

Glover often dazzled crowds with her crossover and behind-the-back dribble style she used to avoid defenders. She was the only player in the conference this season to earn double-doubles through the means of points and assists.

She scored 14 points and had 12 assists against Big-East foe Pittsburgh. In a win over Florida A&M, Glover posted 10 points and 14 assists in Tallahassee, Fla. Glover averaged 12.8 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 steals and was a 79 percent free throw shooter.

She led the conference in assists and was second in the league in steals and free throw shooting (other Lady Aggies did not have enough made free throws to qualify).
