THIRD-RANKED TIGERS DEFEAT AGGIES

BATON ROUGE, La., January 1, 2006 – As the all important MEAC conference season approaches for the N.C. A&T women’s basketball team, there was a key moment in Sunday’s game with third-ranked Louisiana State University.

Thirty seconds into the game, senior Aggies guard Shareka Glover came open and hit a 15-footer to give N.C. A&T the lead over a team who has been in the Final Four the last two seasons.

From there the Tigers demonstrated why they have been to the Final Four the last two seasons and why they have an excellent chance to go back this season. The Tigers got 13 points on 6-for-6 shooting by reigning National Player of the Year Seimone Augustus to defeat the Aggies 95-35.

Glover led the Aggies with 10 points. Emilee Christopher added seven points and four rebounds.

After Glover’s basket, the Tigers ran off nine straight points. Kira Tillman answered the run with a jump shot, but the Aggies would then go 9:33 between baskets. In that gap, the Tigers scored 19 straight points to take a 28-4 command of the game.
