Johnson finishes with 23 on 11-for-22 shooting

ANNAPOLIS, Md., November 22, 2005 -- Bianca Johnson played  like a woman who has shook off the rust from a two-year layoff as she scored 23 points and had three steals in 35 minutes of action, but it was not enough as the N.C. A&T women's basketball team dropped to 0-2 with an 80-69 loss to Navy.

Senior Kira Tillman added 16 points and junior center Melea Gibson had another solid game on the boards with nine rebounds, six on the offensive end.

The Aggies however, struggled shooting the ball in all phases. They shot just 36.8 percent from the floor, they were 0-for-7 from 3-point range and hit just 13 of their 26 free throws.

Navy took advantage and extended its lead to as much as 20 with 7:38 remaining in the game. The Aggies would go on a 13-2 run over the next four minutes that was ignited by an Ahmad Williams 3-point play. When Shareka Glover, who has 14 assists and just three turnovers on the young season, grabbed a long rebound and raced down to the other end to dish the ball off to Ahmad Williams for a layup that cut the Mids lead to 71-62 with 3:12 to play.

Ashley Pelzek, who finished with 23 points on 5-for-10 from 3-point range and 9-for-15 from the floor, would end any hopes of an Aggies comeback with a 3-pointer that pushed the lead to 12, 76-64, with 2:46 remaining in the game. The Aggies never seriously threatened again.

The Aggies travel to Spartanburg, SC on Saturday to face Wofford at 1 p.m., before returning home to play their home opener against East Carolina on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
