Johnson scores 16 to lead Aggies SPARTANBURG, S.C., November 26, 2005 – The North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team relies heavily on freshmen. On Saturday, Wofford was able to expose the Aggies inexperience in every way possible. The Terriers shot 60 percent from the field on their way to a 94-50 win over N.C. A&T. Bianca Johnson was the only Aggie to reach double figures with 16 points. The Terriers, however, placed six players in double figures led by Nakia Mister’s 17 points and 11 rebounds and Kelsi Koenig’s 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting. Terrier center Jenny Weurding added 12 points, nine rebounds and eight blocked shots. The Aggies shot just 27 percent from the floor. “We’re going to get better,” said N.C. A&T women’s basketball coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs who suffered her worse loss since a 44-point loss to Texas in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament when she was the head coach at Hampton. “When I look down the bench to substitute the only thing there are freshmen. It’s not always going to be that way. We just have to be patient and live through some of the growing pains.” It was a substitution that may have turned the game sour for the Aggies. With 8:02 remaining in the first half, first-team all-MEAC point guard Shareka Glover picked up her second foul and went to the bench with the Aggies trailing 24-19. With the Aggies floor leader gone, the Terriers tuned a five-point lead into a 14-point lead thanks to a 13-4 run in which saw the Terriers went 5-for-6 from the floor during the stretch. Tiffaney Grady pulled the Aggies to within 12 at 37-25 on a layup, only to see the Terries run off the last 11 points of the half to walk into the locker room with a 48-25 advantage. The Aggies will try to get back on track Tuesday when they host their first home game of the season. They will welcome the East Carolina Pirates into Corbett Sports Center at 7 p.m.
