Breakdown: Became a local icon
after a sterling high school career at Greensboro Dudley as a quarterback...Has
increased his status as locally after a successful 2011 season as an Aggie...Can
play several different roles for the Aggies, including running back,
quarterback, wide receiver and kick and punt returner...Head coach Rod Broadway
calls Lewis four players in one...Broadway hopes to have Lewis focus on one
position this season...Will likely see most of his action at running back, but he
could also make appearances as a receiver and a kick returner...Has a knack for
being a playmaker no matter where he is playing...Sat out the 2009 season to
concentrate on his academics...Has played in 19 games with six starts during his
career...Lewis' bench press max is 315 pounds, his power clean max is 215, his
squat max is 450 and he can bench 225 pounds 13 times...Has compiled 277 yards
rushing, 87 yards passing and 239 yards receiving...Lewis also has 781
all-purpose yards and 364 yards of total offense...He has also scored six
touchdowns - four rushing and two receiving.
2011 Season: Played in 11 games
with five starts...Played several different roles for the Aggies, including
quarterback, running back, wide receiver and punt and kick returner...Made all
five starts at the receiver position...Finished the season with 239 yards
receiving, 155 yards rushing and 23 yards passing...He also returned five punts
and 10 kickoffs...Totaled 643 yards in all-purpose yards and 178 yards in total
offense...His 72 yard kickoff return against Norfolk State on Oct. 29 was the
Aggies' longest of the season...Had a career game against Virginia University of
Lynchburg on Sept. 3 as he caught three passes for 100 yards and touchdowns as
the Aggies defeated the Dragons 38-7...Collected 56 yards rushing on nine carries
against Appalachian State on Sept. 10...Also completed a pass in the game and
returned two kickoffs for 47 yards...On Oct. 15 in a 42-24 win over Delaware
State at Aggie Stadium, Lewis had 24 yards rushing on three carries, 22 yards
receiving on two receptions and he completed a 20-yard pass to Larry Raper...Carried
the ball four times for 26 yards and a touchdown at Howard on Oct. 22...The
following week, he carried the ball three times for 20 yards and a touchdown at
Norfolk State.
2010 Season: Played in eight
games without a start...His roles included running the ball, playing quarterback
and returning kicks...Completed all four of his pass attempts for 64 yards...Ran
the ball 24 times for 124 yards and two touchdowns...Averaged 5.1 yards per carry
and also returned three kicks for 16 yards...Played quarterback in the Aggies'
version of the "wildcat" formation in which he took a shotgun snap from center
and made a decision to either hand the ball off or keep it himself...Scored his
first career touchdown from the "wildcat" formation on Sept. 25 when he took a
direct snap from the shotgun, faked a handoff to running back Mike Mayhew and
ran into the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown at N.C. Central...Had eight carries
for 47 yards against Morgan State on Oct. 9...The next week at Delaware State,
completed a 44-yard pass to Wallace Miles.
High School: Led the Panthers to
two consecutive undefeated state titles and was the named the MVP in both title
games from the quarterback position...He was first-team all-area, and he was named
the area's Player of the Year two straight seasons...Rushed for more than 2,100
yards and threw for more than 1,500 yards in his career.
