Jonathan Smith enters his second season with Aggies as a graduate assistant coach and his first under new Head Coach Joel Sanchez. Smith is currently pursuing a master's degree in Adult Education at North Carolina A&T, after graduating in 2010 from the university with a bachelor's degree in Sports Science and Fitness Management.
He will assist with every day duties both on and off the field this season.
A four-year letterwinner for A&T from 2007-2010, Smith spent his time with the Aggies both as a starting pitcher and a reliever. He made 59 career appearances with eight starts. He tossed 125.9 career innings and had 82 strikeouts. His best season came his senior year in 2010 when he posted a 5.90 ERA , making a career-high 24 appearances and allowing 38 earned runs on 74 hits in a career-high 58.0 innings. He ranked among team leaders in opposing batting average, innings pitched, and strikeouts that season as well. As a junior in 2009, he struck out a career-high 44 batters in 50.3 innings and had a 1-1 record.
