Franklin Scott enters his second year as an assistant women's basketball coach for North Carolina A&T.  In addition to his coaching duties, Scott also handles A&T’s basketball operations. He brings with him experience in coaching and player development.

Scott comes to Greensboro after serving as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Jefferson College, a two-year community college in Hillsboro, Mo.  For two seasons, he helped the Vikings win more than 50 games.  Scott served as the offensive coordinator and maintained recruiting responsibilities. He also handled film exchange, scouting and facilitated an athletics department study hall to enhance academic achievement.

On the court, the Vikings were prosperous during his stay there. During the 2011-12 season, the Vikings went 31-5, winning the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference crown and Region XVI championship title. The 2011-12 team was also national ranked as high as No. 9 in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Poll, and Scott signed a Top 10 JUCO recruiting class that season, including several players ranked highly at their position by ESPN and by Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report, including the No. 3 overall player.  They finished seventh at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

In the midst of the program's success, he helped develop three all-region players and four all-conference players, including LaQuinta Jefferson, who was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team as well as to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association JUCO All-American team in 2012.  She was also nominated as a candidate for the WBCA State Farm JUCO Player of the Year. Scott was instrumental in helping send four players to the NCAA Division I level and two players to the NCAA Division II level.

The 2010-11 season was also highly successful, as Scott helped lead the team to the Region XVI championship game and helped develop three all-region and all-conference players.  He helped send five players to the NCAA Division I level, and three players to the NCAA Division II level following that season.  The Vikings had a 21-11 record in 2010-11, and were ranked as high as No. 4 in the country.   During Scott's tenure at Jefferson College he assisted in producing two NJCAA National Players of the Week in LaQuinta Jefferson and  Anete Klinstone.  For two years, Scott coordinated the Jeffco Jam, a preseason recruiting event for college coaches looking for JUCO talent.

Prior to working at Jefferson College, Scott worked as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Neosho County Community College in Chaunte, Kan.  He helped in the development of two All-Kansas Junior Community College Conference Players and an all-region student-athlete. He also coached a WBCA State Farm Honorable Mention All-American in Bjonee Reaves. Reaves was recognized as the NJCAA National Player of the Week after recording a quadruple-double (30 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists and 10 steals) and a double-double in the same week.

For the 2008-09 season, Scott was working at Arizona Western College as the women's basketball assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. The team was 21-10 and made an appearance in the Region I championship game for the first time in six years.  Two players from the team earned NJCAA All-American honors in Yohanna Morton and Katrina Johnson. Scott also coached three All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference players. Ten players from the Arizona Western College team he coached eventually played at four-year schools.

Scott was a community relations intern for the WNBA Chicago Sky during the 2008 season, and also served as a scout player and camp manager for the University of Tennessee women's basketball program from June 2005 to his graduation from UT in December 2008.

Scott earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Tennessee. Scott and his wife, Erica, reside in Jamestown, N.C.
