THE BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD
OF NORTH CAROLINA PLAYER OF THE WEEK (NOVEMBER 26-DECEMBER 2) CHERISE POOLE
Full Name: Cherise Linyae Poole
Classification: Junior
Major: Computer
Science
Hometown: New Castle, Del.
Professional Goals: "I've always been a secret under-the-table
computer geek. Computer science is a challenging major because you have to
learn how to use coding."
The
Student-Athlete: "It
gets pretty difficult at times, but I would say the two most important things a
student-athlete should have is time management and organization. I write
everything down because I feel like if I don't write everything down, I'm going
to forget it. There are times when I come to practice, and I'm waiting for them
to oil the lanes, I'll start doing my homework. I try to use every minute of
the day to get things done."
The
evidence for being the BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: The Aggies recently completed their second
MEAC Southern Divisional Meet, and Cherise Poole was dominant. In three separate
games, she bowled better than a 200, including a 245 score against
Bethune-Cookman. Poole's performances helped the Aggies move into second place
in the MEAC South with a 10-6 record. Poole has the Aggies on pace to reach the
MEAC Bowling Championships for the first time in four seasons.
Poole on
being the BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: "Freshman year when I got here we had a good
team, and we've always worked hard. But it just seemed the harder we worked, the
better the other teams got, so we would always fall short. But this year with
the new recruits who have come in, they've been a big asset to this team. They've
helped Amber and me (the returning bowlers) tremendously."
