CHIT CHAT: The Aggies welcome William & Mary for a
noon matinee Friday afternoon. It will
be the first game for the Tribe since losing at Radford on Dec. 8. The Aggies will be looking to extend William
& Mary's losing streak to four. The
Aggies will also look to see more scoring from Amber Calvin, who was
effectively defended by Charlotte on Tuesday.
Calvin, who had 21 points on Dec. 15 in the win at Liberty, was held to
just two on Dec. 18 against Charlotte.
Head coach Tarrell Robinson said following Tuesday's loss that Calvin is
the sparkplug that helps jumpstart the Aggie offense.
From the Coach: "We've
got to do a better job boxing out. We've
got to rebound. We've got to do better. This is about want to wanting to run up and
put your body on somebody and pushing off."

It's A "Lock": A&T's defense
will be stellar. In their first nine games this season, the Aggies have limited
opponents to an average of 54.3 points per game. In their first nine games of
2011-12, opponents averaged 73.4 points per game. The A&T defense has held its last two
opponents to season-low field goal shooting and has not allowed an opponent to
shoot better than 49 percent in a game this season. Last season, the Aggies allowed five of their
13 non-conference opponents to shoot better than 50 percent from the floor.
The
Opponent: The Tribe has defeated Virginia Union and
Austin Peay this season, and four of its losses were by less than 10
points. The Tribe is led by senior
forward Emily Correal, who is averaging 18.0 points and 8.9 rebounds. Janine Aldridge averages 12.1 points, while
Taylor Hilton averages 10.4 points this season.
Correal has won two CAA Co-Player of the Week honors this season. She was named preseason All-CAA second team. The Tribe was picked to finish tied for ninth
in the CAA this season. The Tribe returns
four starters from last year's 10-20 team.
Potential
Gameday Star Power: North
Carolina A&T: Junior Tracy King
went had a strong performance against Charlotte, shooting 7-for-10 for 14
points and six rebounds with two steals.
She finished the game with four straight field goals to help A&T
rally. William & Mary: Emily
Correal will be a problem for the Aggies.
She has led the Tribe in scoring four times this season and had
double-doubles against East Carolina and Pittsburgh en route to leading the
team with 18.0 points per game. The
Aggies will also look to shut down Janine Aldridge and Taylor Hilton, who are
also averaging double-figure points.
The Magic Number for A&T: 5:
The Aggies are 5-0 this season when leading at the half, and have lost every
game in which they trailed at the break.
The Aggies will look to gain the upper hand early on Friday.
From
the Notes:
The Aggies are holding opponents to 35.9
percent shooting, which is third best in the MEAC.
A&T has not shot better than 47 percent
from the floor in a game this season.
But they have held opponents to under 40 percent shooting a majority of
the season, and are 4-2 when opponents shoot less than 40 percent.
